Sydney workshop

AN INSPIRING NEW WORKSHOP IN SYDNEY

with cinematographer Pieter de Vries ACS - North Sydney, Saturday & Sunday 21st & 22nd October 2017

The weekend features two linked workshops. Pieter will share the techniques that have made him one of the leading documentary cinematographers in the world.

Come on the Saturday or the Sunday. Attending both days ensures that you take with you, a total video production experience that will round out and build on your existing filmmaking skills. You will be inspired and keen to try out new creative techniques.

Both days are suitable for

Multi-Media Producers producing video for their company
Journalists keen to shoot their own news stories
Photographers wanting to port their skills to video
Shooter/Producers who plan to shoot documentaries
Video Bloggers using affordable equipment
Cinematographers wanting an update

 SATURDAY 21st   the story

Current video cameras are capable of capturing stunning images resulting in a comparatively technically even playing field. However presenting a compelling story is not only about image quality - few people in an audience have an emotional response to impressive image resolution. Good audio also, is absolutely critical.

The essential element of a good video presentation is simply, The Story. It follows that priority should be placed on coming up with good ideas and devising engaging sequences. These ideas form the kernel of the day.

Along with cinematographers, directors and producers will also find this workshop of benefit. Having a clearer understanding of camera and audio equipment can be incredibly helpful.

SUNDAY 22nd   the camera, the light

This workshop studies shooting-for-the-edit techniques, lens choices, camera movement and audio options. Pieter will also update you on the latest camera features, accessories and gadgets.

Menu settings, S-Log3, Cine EI, C-Log, LUT's, HDR, 4K and RAW capture using Atomos external recorders - on it goes. This is a great opportunity to have answers to every question you ever had.

It's not all pixels, menus and dials. Tips on the use of available light and discover the cinematography lighting techniques that have kept Pieter at the top of his craft for over thirty five years. Which camera you have is unimportant - the quality your video does not depend on the model camera that you use.
