I have always been fascinated with cameras and light. From the beginnings, one of my gaols was to find the most dynamic camera angle, and to seek out the most unusual light - to create unique images and learning from my mistakes as much as my triumphs.

Since then, I have worked in locations worldwide, gaining an international profile by photographing many acclaimed films and television series. Visit my about page for more on my work and career.

I strongly believe in sharing knowledge, and when I'm not working as a cinematographer, I'm training others in my craft. Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Melbourne and Auckland are a few of the cities where my training courses are held.

There are a considerable number of how-to and Q & A articles to discover within these digital walls. Please consider registering to receive additional shooting and lighting tips plus current training schedules. For the details, visit the training home.

This home page has a blogging style layout layout so there will always be fresh stuff to see. Feel free to scroll down for a peek.

"Babies from the Future" - a [really] short film

I have just finished a weekend short film shoot on location at beautiful Leura in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. It's short, but writer/director/editor/fx Tom Taylor has come up with a clever script with some laughs and a few babies thrown in! Titled "Babies from the Future", it will be finished soon and I'll be posting links to it here soon after.

Shot on a Canon 5D Mk11 Digital SLR  owned by fellow cinematographer Caz Dickson (who also operated), "Babes" has a cinematic feel and an intriguing twist.

Still more production stills

This production wraps up my short-term engagement as guest Tutor in Cinematography at the college, and my thanks for their assistance go to Anthony McGann, Huseyin Turem and Phil Moore from the college and also to guest Tutor in Directing and colleague, Lewis Fitz-Gerald. I have enjoyed my time with the Advanced Diploma Screen students during their final productions and I'm looking forward to the big night of screenings.

Production stills from the final student production, "A Savage God" can be viewed here
